Moana is an instant Disney all-time classic

Moana is an instant Disney all-time classic MOANA
Disney does it again.
From the directors behind timeless classics The Little Mermaid and Aladdin comes a new Disney fairytale and based on my first screening, Moana will be a classic in our household too.

First thing's first: there's no way I can review this as anything but a New Zealander; a grateful and connected resident of Aotearoa and it's extended Pacific Island whanau. Disney has gifted us in particular a story which will resonate even more than it will anywhere else in the world.
The team behind the film had a wonderful thing to say, too - something they in turn were told during their research in Fiji, Samoa, Tahiti and New Zealand for the film: "The ocean doesn't separate our islands, it connects them".
Moana is full of Pasifika legend; the story pulls strands from here-and-there to weave together a fresh, inspirational and hugely entertaining family adventure which filled me with joy.

Promoters Duco have confirmed that the Joseph Parker vs Andy Ruiz Jr bout will take place at Vector Arena in Auckland on December 10. The fight for the vacant WBO heavyweight title will remain on New Zealand soil after Duco managed to secure the requisite financial backing following Auckland City Council's denial of their bid for public funding last week.

"We are only able to host the event in Auckland because of the tremendous support from our sponsors who grasp just how big an occasion this will be for all New Zealanders."

    Jupiter's Moon Spewing Water Jets

    Jupiter's Moon Spewing Water Jets

New evidence has shown that Jupiter's icy moon, Europa throws jets of water out into space.

Scientist first reported the behaviour in 2013 they were using Hubble telescope, but have now made a follow-up sighting
It is significant because Europa is one the most likely places to find microbial life beyond Earth because of its huge ocean of liquid water. Flying through the jets with an instrumented spacecraft would be an effective way to test the possibility.            Jupiter's Moon

    Visiting Tamaki Primary

Last week Wednesday Ruapotaka school went to Tamaki Primary school. We had to use  three buses to go to their school. When we got there they did a welcoming so the kapahaka group had to welcome us to their school. The girls sang a song and the boys did the Haka. We had to leave our school because the Asbestos company had to come and clean our school roof and nobody was not allow to go inside but only the teachers that were allow to go inside the staff room. We won't allowed to go inside because there was Asbestos in our roof and we might get sick and miss our learning at school. On Friday Tamaki Primary had Tongan Language Week at their school and it was fun and their dances were cool as also they sang some songs it was sweet as.

    Matariki Maori New Year

Matariki, or Maori New Year  celebrations were once popular, but they stopped in the 1940s. Only a few people took part. Traditionally, Matariki was a time to remember those who had died in last year. But it was also a happy event. Matariki was a time for singing, dancing and feasting. It is celebrated more often these days.   Matariki                                                              The Pleiades/Matariki cluster.
